Think of me as a facilitator. I won’t be giving you advice. What I do offer, to help you on your journey, is:
Empathy, congruence and an unconditional positive regard: I will strive to truly understand your world from your perspective, feeling with you without getting lost in your feelings. I will be genuine and authentic in my interactions with you. There won't be a facade or professional mask and I will accept and value you for who you are, without judgment, regardless of what you share.
In this environment, you're empowered to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace and in your own way. The focus is on your individual experience and your potential for self-discovery and positive change.
Unlike some more directive therapies there might have a pre-determined number of sessions; person-centred counselling tends to be more open-ended. We will, ideally, work collaboratively to determine when you feel ready to conclude therapy. This might be after a few sessions, several months, or even longer, depending on your unique circumstances.
Person-centered counselling is about you, the individual, the length of therapy really depends on a few things:
Your goals: What do you hope to achieve through counselling? Are you working through a specific issue, or seeking broader personal growth?
The complexity of your concerns: Some issues may require more time and exploration than others.
Your pace of progress: Everyone moves at their own speed in therapy.
Your personal needs and preferences: Some people find a few sessions helpful for a specific situation, while others may benefit from longer-term support.
I offer you 50 minutes of time for you, just you, where you can explore what is troubling you in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
Person Centred Counselling is led by you, the client, the number of sessions is open-ended and determined by you.
Usually using Zoom (with other platforms available), online counselling uses technology to offer you support and guidance rather than meeting face-to-face.
The benefits are:
Accessibility: It can be a good option for you if you are in a remote area or if you find it difficult to travel to a therapist's office.
Convenience: You can access therapy from the comfort of your own home or other location with a stable internet connection.
Flexibility: Online therapy can offer more flexible scheduling options, potentially accommodating busy schedules.
Privacy: You may feel more comfortable expressing yourself in a virtual setting.
You may not feel comfortable in a face-to-face setting whether that is in a consulting room or on-line.
Sometimes being outside in nature can feel easier to be open about the issues that are concerning you.
I offer up to 50 minutes at Lopemede Farm in Thame where we will move at your pace both physically and mentally. The terrain is mainly flat with a few inclines in places.
Please be aware that this is a working farm and our routes will very much depend on the time of year, weather conditions and where sheep & cattle graze. We will also not enter any fields where there are livestock.
